Review and Preview 2023/2024

Dear Readers of weird stuff on the internet,

I hope that this, my latest Review and Preview, finds you well. If I wanted to sum up 2023, this would be the result: 26066

That is the combined word count of all literary texts I have published on this site this year, distributed as follows:

• One part of Ponygirl Vet: 1,319
• Four doses of Pony Boot Camp, including Part LX for the story’s 10^th anniversary: 14,456
• Two chapters of Skeleton Crew: 10,291

That number makes for a decent novella, but I wished it would have been spread more evenly. Keen eyes may spot that there is no new chapter of Æquinoctium, nor a concluded short story.

Review and Preview 2022/2023

It’s not looking good, guys, it does not look good…

As some of you might already have realised, the year is about to end, which calls for another highly informative review/preview routine. And especially with the output on my multi-part stories I am not happy:

• Two new parts of Pony Boot Camp (gotta pump those numbers up!)
• Zero new parts of Æquinoctium (I don’t even know what to say.)

The tragedy here lies within the fact that at least three more parts of PBC are drafted out, and that for many moons I am 1,600 words deep into Chapter IX of Æquinoctium. I can only point at time as the limiting factor.

Alterations for Pony Boot Camp (VIII)

Since I did a little retconning on PBC, we can have some more fun with Roman numerals (because I once adopted them for the chapters to match the Alterations posts’ method of counting and am now stuck with ’em)!

I know what I’m writing about; Sandrine’s and my next-door neighbours once had hunted us down with foam swords for intercepting their Chinese delivery. Turned out hardcore RPG nerds didn’t take well to having their level 15 Spring Rolls of Doom get nicked.

If you, dear reader, have come to this site joyfully expecting a new original story or the next instalment of Pony Boot Camp or – less likely – Æquinoctium, it means two things:

I.) It’s the end of the month again.

II.) You will only find this sorry post.

Review and Preview 2017/2018

So, it’s that time of the year again. 2017 is almost dead, but let’s flog it some more with a little review.

First of all – of course – Pony Boot Camp: It took quite some time and chapters, but the “no good deed goes unpunished” story arc is completed and has positioned the characters neatly for the next phase within the narration as a whole.

It seemed that Æquinoctium had also come to stay. Originally planned as a one-part story, even a third instalment won’t be enough to finish it now.

Review and Preview 2016/2017

Hello everybody,

2017 is neigh, and with it 365 days to write some more smut. With my predictions in last year’s review having basically been hit or miss, I’m eager to give it another try.

But first, let us tick some boxes regarding the exciting stuff I have announced for 2016 twelve months ago:

Alterations for Pony Boot Camp (III)

Once again I felt the need for firing up my alteration machine. As always, the storyline itself is not affected.

All record shops I came across lately seemed to be a bit old-fashioned, maybe because of the revival (or persistence) of vinyl.

Since Venom, the lazy sod, still hasn’t finished the next part of Pony Boot Camp, here are some minor corrections and changes of the narration so far. As before, the storyline itself is not affected.

Review and Preview 2015/2016

Hi guys,

seems we have December again, the time for starting the winter (or summer, depending on where you live), forgetting to buy Christmas gifts, and doing some “the year in review” boredom. I, too, would like to participate in this heart-warming tradition. But since we shall look forwards and not backwards, upwards and not forwards, I decided to make it short. There are only just a few words I would like to say about the stuff I have written in 2015 anyway.

Thoughts About: House of Cthulhu — Seventh Night

Today I began to write a fair copy of the seventh chapter of HoC. Why do I grant this literary event its own post, one may ask. Because ever since I have started this story in late 2011/early 2012, writing on it has been stalled and impeded massively. Sometimes external factor have been responsible, sometimes the considerable length of each section has made the continuous publishing I managed to uphold for Pony Boot Camp impossible. The last chapter was released exactly nine months ago. The material I will be using for the next chapter is about two years old, and I doubt I will be able to finish Seventh Night before the year ends.

HoC isn’t my most popular story, not by a long way, and it was never meant to become that long (or weird). But it is also a narration I worked very hard on, and a narration which shows its evolution to the reader. It was never an option for me to not keep working on it, for I am just too curious about its development myself.
